STONES RIVER WOODWORKERS CLUB EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING
JUNE 11, 2010  Those present were:

Doug Pelren, current President
Jay Hazel, past President
Bobby Creighton, current VP
Norm Bennett, current Secretary
Carole Johanson, new Secretary
Tom VanDervort, new Publicity/Historian

Absentees were:

Mary Nichols, new Vice President-Programs
Glen Emery,  News Letter Editor
David Ewbanks, current Treasurer
Pat Rooney, current Publicity/Historian
Steve Markham,  interim Publicity/Historian

The current status of the News Letter and its distribution was discussed. The general
consensus was that while the Editor publishes the News Letter and
maintains the club web site, the content of the News Letter should
come from the President (events, general information, etc.), the
Vice President (programs) and the Secretary.

It was suggested that regular monthly features could/should include items like the President's Corner, Club Member Spotlight, Member Ramblings (i.e. Jay Hazel or any club member's thoughts and experiences), and
Woodworking Tips from Club members   Tom agreed to mail copies of the News Letter to all
Club Members wishing to receive a hard copy.

Doug discussed the picnic just held and mentioned that many club member liked having
the picnic earlier in the summer.

The day long seminar (ala Alf Sharp) was  discussed and it was agreed that the club should schedule
another one next year.

Shop visits were discussed at length and it was determined that we enjoyed hands on learning shop visits like
the pen turning and Christmas Ornament making  sessions as much or more
than just a shop tour. Some suggestions for these sessions included
band saw boxes, dovetail boxes, and tool sharpening. Jay Hazel
mentioned he would like to have a shop visit with no set agenda but
still a hands on working session. Cliff Brothers new shop in an old
log cabin was also mentioned as was Harry Hodge's new house if he is agreeable to hosting an event.

Club participation in up coming events such as Uncle Dave Macon Days and White Oak Craft
Fair were discussed and we agreed to support them.

We made a visit to the club storage area, the keys were turned over to Bobby and Carole took an inventory of items in storage and who has the
missing items. All video and electronic equipment is stored and maintained by Dayton Brown.
