March 2021 meeting minutes

Meeting of the Stones River Woodworkers March 23, 2021

Present: 21

Welcome: President Sam Clark opened the meeting, welcoming everyone, and made the following announcements:

  • Paid Memberships: Our membership list will be updated after this meeting. You may pay dues through Treasurer Gene Casto or by using PayPal.
  • Reaching Out for Audio-Video Media Development: When live meetings are resumed the club expects to use the capabilities of Zooming to home-bound members and to concurrently enhance the viewing experience for each attending member at future live meetings, specifically for technical demonstrations. We think we may have much of the needed equipment to set this up but are seeking someone who can help “put it all together”. If you are that someone and would like to help, please e-mail me at seclark60@gmail.com. Thank you in advance.

Program: Vice President Larry Counts introduced member David Sapp, also currently serving as President, Tennessee Association of Woodturners. David was commissioned to build a “Green & Green” 10 foot by 5-foot reproduction dining room table complete with leaves and chairs using Honduran mahogany. The table is beautifully finished with 9 coats of Waterlox and is 10 feet long and 5 feet wide. The detailed slides outlined the construction process that took a 51-week period ending in March of 2013.

Show and Tell: Newsletter Editor Marvin Miller will e-mail all of these presentations to the membership.

Next Meeting: 4-27-21. Steve Reinker will be presenting

Respectfully submitted by:

David Roesler,

SRWW Secretary
